CRV (formerly known as ‘coordinate remote viewing’ and now as ‘controlled remote viewing’) is the skill developed for the US government’s Star Gate program (sometimes written as ‘Stargate’) to teach ordinary soldiers how to literally become “psychic spies.” Now it is available to all, not just the military. The CRV manual was developed in 1985-1986 with Paul H. Smith as the primary author. But there was much collaboration from the other Ft. Meade Army personnel who were also Ingo Swann’s direct students (Bill Ray, Ed Dames, Charlene Shufelt, and Tom McNear), under the guidance of Skip Atwater, who had extensive interaction with Ingo Swann and Hal Puthoff throughout the CRV development and training process. A limited edition of the manual was published and released privately within the Defense Intelligence Agency on 1 May 1986.

The manual was intended to serve as a comprehensive explanation of the theory and mechanics of CRV as developed by SRI-I. At the conclusion of the writing, Fred (Skip) Atwater forwarded a copy of the manual to Ingo Swann for his assessment. This letter is Ingo’s response.
